Use Network Management Software Network management software can provide detailed information about your network devices, including whether your switch supports PoE. These tools can scan your network and provide a detailed inventory of devices, including PoE capabilities.   5. Power a PoE Device As a practical test, you can connect a known PoE device, such as an IP camera or wireless access point, to the switch.
